February 2, 2014Join Michael Stone in the practice and study of yoga and its psychology. Develop a deeper connection between the traditional and contemporary and experience how the physical, mental, energetic and spiritual practices can support awakened living in our times.
Michael Stone is a renown Yoga teacher, Buddhist teacher and psychotherapist based in Canada. He is co-author of the upcoming book Family Wakes Us Up about the spirituality of family life, as well as author of four previous books available in the Kushala bookstore. Read more.
Daily Schedule // Thursday May 1st – Sunday May 4th
Mornings // Yoga Postures and Breathing Exercises // 9am – 12pm
Using standing, sitting and inverted yoga postures we will explore the role of breathing and attention in transforming habitual patterns in the body, mind and nervous system. The anatomy of yoga breathing will allow us to feel true alignment and core strength. Also, how to work with distraction and discursive thinking.
Afternoons // Meditation, Philosophy and Discussion // 1pm – 3:30pm
Sitting meditation followed by in-depth study and discussion about the psychology of yoga and mindfulness and how to embody practice in daily life. We will explore: how to work with obstacles, how practice can transform pain, and how to bring emotional stability to our lives and relationships.
Friday Evening Public Talk: Embodying Our Values – Mindfulness and Social Change
Join Michael for a lecture and discussion on transforming stress, anxiety and turbulent emotions into positive forms of social change.
