Embodied Awakening – A 4 Day Intensive with Michael Stone
February 2, 2014Basic Pranayama and Relaxation
February 2, 2014Yoga poses are exhausting and require much effort to sustain the shape properly for the duration of practice. Using props can give us the advantage to perform the poses fully, in perfect alignment without strain or exhaustion. This can allow us to experience the benefits oft the pose as the nervous system settles, the circulatory system settles, the respiratory system rejuvenates itself, and most importantly, our bodies become physically and energetically aligned in poses that would be too intense or difficult without props.
Ancient yogis used logs of wood, stones, and ropes to help them practice, in this class we will use blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, and benches to help our poses take shape. This workshop is for all levels of yoga practitioners who are interested in deepening their practice with the help of props.
In this workshop you will learn to:
Use a variety of props to find alignment in poses
Encourage a balance of effort and relaxation in poses
Deepen understanding of actions in poses
