August 16, 2012The Bhagavad Gita is the most loved, well-studied and influential text on Yoga. With Nico Luce, explore the teachings and wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita. This four part workshop series will focus on embodying the powerful teachings of Karma (Action), Bhakti (Devotion) and Jnana (Wisdom) in your life and yoga practice.
Each class will start with a philosophical discussion to uncover the teachings, followed by a multi-level asana class to put them into practice. Bring a notebook, a pen and your copy of the text (available in the Kushala bookstore).
The Roots
Saturday September 8th / 9:30am – 11:30am
Study the historical context of the Gita, and the story in which the text unfolds. Asana practice focuses on Foundation and Inversions.
Yoga as “Skill in Action”
Saturday September 8th / 12pm – 2pm
Explore Karma Yoga, the yoga of action. Asana practice focuses on forward bends and arm balances.
Give With a Loving Heart
Sunday September 9th / 9:30am – 11:30am
Study Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of love and devotion. Asana practice focuses on backbends.
Relinquish the Fruits of Action
Sunday September 9th / 12pm – 2pm
Explore Jnana Yoga, the yoga of knowledge and wisdom. Asana practice focuses on hip openers and twists.
