Prop it Up! Workshop with Sean O'Leary
February 2, 2014Live Music Night
February 4, 2014Pranayama is not deep breathing but a surrender to the entire experience of respiration. It can be translated as “the extension the breath” meaning to extend or draw out the Prana (vital life force) or breath we invite in. By allowing the mind to be aware of each fibre, cell and molecule of the body, the physical sensations of breathing allow us to receive and absorb the prana (vital life force).
Pranayama practice unites the body and mind resulting in a calm state in which to witness the movement of our consciousness or energy throughout our bodies.
Expect a simple series of techniques with a focus on relaxing the body in order to achieve the most efficient intake of prana or breath followed by a deep guided relaxation to truly experience the fruits of the practice.
In this workshop you will learn:
to sustain Ujayi Pranayam (the triumphant breath)
Introduction to Viloma Pranayam
to allow breathing to become effortless to achieve deep relaxation
