A three part series to give anyone a basic introduction to the richness that is the history & philosophy that has informed yoga to be what it is today.
Part One: Tattvas, Malas and Chakras Oh My!
January 16th 2010: 11am-2pm
Begin to explore principles of existence (tattvas) and other aspects of the relative world in this three hour workshop which will include a celebratory backbending practice.
Part Two: Pantanjali’s Classical Yoga
January 30th 2010: 11am-2pm
Reviewing and examining some of the key sutras from Pantanjali’s Yoga Sutras is an amazing way to understand how yoga was developed. In this three hour workshop we will understand the context in which the Sutras were written and also examine them from a more modern context. We will connect all of these musing with an inversion and forward folding practice.
Part Three: Good Times with the Gita
January 30th 2010: 3pm – 6pm
An opportunity to understand the context in which the Bhagavad Gita has been historically viewed and then offering our understanding to the unending dialogue about this incredible text. Prereading required (minimum first chapter). We will play with our understanding with a strong standing and arm balancing practice.
